It seems only fitting that a Star Wars icon in the form of George Lucas is still keeping a close eye on a successful property like The Mandalorian. Jon Favreau’s amusing story of how Lucas urged The Mandalorian director and Star Wars: The Clone Wars creator Dave Filoni in a multitude of ways while on set goes to show that the franchise’s creator still has an immense passion with the inner workings behind the Star Wars universe.
While speaking with Entertainment Weekly ahead of the release of The Mandalorian season 2, showrunner Jon Favreau shared that Star Wars creator George Lucas visited the set of the Disney+ show.
Favreau bared that Lucas “would be giving [The Mandalorian director] Dave [Filoni] a hard time” regarding the number of setups on set while also “urging him to go faster” when it came to shooting some scenes:
“He would be giving Dave a hard time about how many setups he was getting and how fast he was shooting and urging him to go faster. He was like a boxer’s corner man coaching him, but always with a twinkle in his eye.”
