While the report didn’t specify the role that Xochitl Gomez will play in the sequel, it seems likely that she will play America Chavez. A previous report from The Direct already mentioned that Multiverse of Madness was casting a teenager, ages 12-15, for the role of Chavez, and Gomez, who is currently 14 years old, appears to be the perfect fit for that role.
Deadline shared in a report that The Baby-Sitters Club actress Xochitl Gomez has joined the cast of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in an unknown role.
Deadline also revealed that this would mark Gomez’s “first role in a studio tentpole” after serving as one of the leads of Netflix’s The Baby-Sitters Club series. Gomez also starred in other projects such as Roped and Shadow Wolves.
Meanwhile, movie insider Daniel Richtman pointed out that she could very well be playing the young hero, America Chavez.
From the sound of things, there’s a good chance that Multiverse of Madness already found their America Chavez, and she is likely to play a significant role in the alternate reality storyline of the sequel, especially after the leaked audition tape that was previously unearthed. The aforementioned audition video teased that Chavez will at least be aware of the multiverse, and this makes sense given her powers are closely tied to it.
