After playing the key role of Poe Dameron in all three films of the new Star Wars trilogy from 2015 to 2019, Oscar Isaac has now landed likely the biggest role of his career to date with Marvel Studios. Fans have speculated on who would take on the white cape and cowl ever since Moon Knight was announced at the 2019 D23 conference, and it appears Disney and Marvel only had to look across the hall at their other major franchise for the right man.
A new report from Deadline has confirmed that Marvel Studios has tapped Star Wars alum Oscar Isaac to play the lead role of Marc Spector in Moon Knight for Disney+.
Marvel and Disney+ are now looking to attach a director to Moon Knight. A production start date has not been set for the series as of yet. Marvel Studios provided no comment on the news
Isaac fits into this role about as seamlessly as any name mentioned during the casting process for Moon Knight, already having some major projects on his resume like Star Wars and next year’s Dune. He is even half-Jewish in real life, which was specifically mentioned in multiple casting calls released by Disney, and he now has the opportunity to take on his very own property with the most successful comic book franchise in history.
