Provided the immense acclaim that The Baby-Sitter’s Club had garnered for its warm, effervescent storytelling and the unabashedly feminist resolution of real-life issues, its renewal was never really far-fetched, although Netflix’s recent cancellation of popular shows like Glow had cast some doubts. But now there is an official confirmation about The Baby-Sitter’s Club’s renewal and it has brought joy to Netflix’s subscribers, who now have a lot to look forward to in terms of sincere and meaningful coming-0f-age drama.
On Wednesday, Netflix confirmed that The Baby-Sitter’s Club will return season 2, thereby promising several more entertaining adventures for fans to savor. The announcement was made through a cute video, featuring clips of the series cast members (Sophie Grace, Momona Tamada, Shay Rudolph, Malia Baker, and Xochitl Gomez) singing along to the show’s iconic title track, “Say Hello to Your Friends”. The Baby-Sitter’s Club’s renewal was also subsequently confirmed by its showrunner, Shukert, who took to Twitter to exclaim, “The news is out! So excited to bring you more BSC with these stupendous people!”
Developed by Rachel Shukert, The Baby-Sitter’s Club is a contemporary adaptation of Ann M. Martin’s beloved, best-selling, eponymous 1986 YA novel series. The show explores the lives of five middle-school students as they set up their own babysitting business in the quaint Connecticut town of Stoneybrook.
