The Mandalorian Season 2 Is Already Breaking Disney+ Viewership Records

Given the success of The Mandalorian, the numbers shown shouldn’t be surprising for Star Wars fans, but it’s nice to see that the series is doing well in terms of viewership on Disney+. The streaming data shows off the dominance of The Mandalorian, and it is mightily impressive considering that the series only has one episode so far in its latest season.

Observer shared a “by the numbers” breakdown of the premiere of The Mandalorian Season 2’s first episode on Disney+. The outlet revealed several third-party measurements of the digital viewership of The Mandalorian Season 2, and it showcased impressive results.
First off, Observer featured the findings of Reelgood, and it showed that The Mandalorian “accrued a 5.7% streaming share” during its opening weekend from October 30 to November 1.

The outlet noted that this share is bigger than the 4.4 % output of its debut episode during Season 1, while also pointing out that this is “definitely the highest yet streaming share” for an original series on Disney+.
The next third-party measurement was from Samba TV, and it showed that the Season 2 premiere of The Mandalorian “drew 1.04 million households.” This essentially marks an “increase of 73%” compared to the show’s debut episode last year. Given that, this means that “Chapter 9: The Marshal” is most definitely the highest-watched season debut for a Disney+ original.

Lastly, Observer showcased the findings of Parrot Analytics which primarily focused on audience demand. The third-party outlet showed that the audience demand of The Mandalorian Season 2 is “higher” than the demands of The Umbrella Academy Season 2, The Boys Season 2, and Titans Season 2 “at the same comparable points of times after each show’s premiere.”

It’s fair to say that the viewership for The Mandalorian will continue to rise as the season progresses, especially after the rumored inclusion of notable Star Wars characters such as Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren. On top of that, there’s a strong chance that Boba Fett’s already-confirmed involvement will no doubt boost anticipation for every upcoming episode, ultimately paving the way for more audience demand.
