With Dinklage in the main role and Blair directing, we can likely expect a thrilling and hilarious horror film that delivers on the splatter-core and body horror audiences are expecting—but one that elevates the material to Deadpool territor.
According to Deadline, Peter Dinklage has been cast in The Toxic Avenger reboot, marking another milestone in his ever-growing filmography. Dinklage has recently been in Avengers: Endgame, I Think We’re Alone Now, and the upcoming I Care a Lot. The reboot will be directed and written by Macon Blair, actor in Blue Ruin and director of the Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize winner I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore.
While the Toxic Avenger isn’t as well-known or part of any franchise, such as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a lot of other superhero films have succeeded by going down the same independent path, like Kick-Ass and Dredd. A release date has not yet been announced for The Toxic Avenger
