The teen drama has been met with praise from critics and fans for its gritty and provocative portrayal of high school, snagging multiple awards and even earning Zendaya an Emmy Award. The show also stars Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Barbie Ferreira, Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Jacob Elordi and Eric Dane. While the second season won’t begin filming until early 2021, “Part 1: Rue” should tide Euphoria fans over in the meantime.
Variety reports that the first of the two special episodes will premiere three days early on HBO Max. The episode, titled “Part 1: Rue,” will be available to stream starting Thursday, December 3 at 9 p.m. PT, three days ahead of HBO’s December 6 premiere.
The special episodes will pick up right after the season 1 finale, which saw Rue leave Jules (Hunter Schafer) at the train station after making plans to run away together before using cocaine and relapsing. The trailer for the first Euphoria special episode released just a few days ago, which shows Rue sitting in a diner booth while flashing back and forth to moments from the season 1 finale before Rue’s sponsor Ali (Colman Domingo) asks her why she called him.
