When actors take on a significant role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, no matter how much star power they possess, they dedicate a huge portion of their lives to embodying that role. Most of these actors sign on with Marvel Studios for more than a handful of projects at a time, and depending on the role, there is plenty of extra work to do outside of the MCU bubble.
In a recent interview with Collider, Hawkeye star Hailee Steinfeld expanded on her experience so far being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Steinfeld was asked how much of Kate Bishop’s arc was revealed to her prior to signing on to play the role, and how much she had to simply trust Marvel’s plan:
“If there’s anyone to trust, it’s Marvel. I’m just so honored to be a part of the MCU, and more so excited to be able to talk about it. It’s been quite awhile that I’ve been having to keep that a secret, and I’m not good at that. It’s been a wonderful experience, developing this character and taking elements of her from the comics and what we know with her history. It’s just very exciting to be playing a character, much like Emily (Dickinson), that is so loved by so many people.”
Hailee Steinfeld is quickly becoming one of Hollywood’s most sought-after rising stars after appearances in blockbusters like Bumblebee and Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. Even considering she is currently playing the lead role of Emily Dickinson in the Dickinson series, on which she also serves as an executive producer, Steinfeld appears to be jumping at the chance to play one of the MCU’s most anticipated heroes.
