Snyder has long claimed his original vision of Justice League was darker and scarier, and this synopsis appears to confirm a darker tone with language about how “recruits must face the demons of their own past” and how it “may be too late to save the planet” from the film’s villains.
The synopsis officially released by Warner Bros. reveals much of the plot of the film and a few hints about how it will be different from 2017’s Justice League
“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (RayFisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
Fans have long speculated about what Snyder originally planned for this epic hero team-up, and from the content of this synopsis, it appears viewers can expect similar beats but with his own take on their journeys and the actions of the film’s villains.
