The South Korean cinematographer has an impressive catalog of films and has only been increasing his workload as time has gone on. Sony’s upcoming Uncharted was just recently pushed back to 2022, and all indications point to the studio wanting to find a better spot for the film to succeed monetary. This is particularly the case considering how crowded the later half of 2021 is becoming for film releases.
According to South Korean website Cine21, via Star Wars News Net, cinematographer Chung-Hoon Chung has been hired to film Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Chung most recently was the director of photography on Tom Holland’s Uncharted film, set to release on Feburary 11, 2022. Chung is also known for winning the Boston Society of Film Critics Award for Best Cinematography for his work on The Handmaiden. Other credits come as the cinematographer of Hotel Artemis, 2017’s It, Zombieland: Double Tap, and upcoming Last Night in Soho.
Chung getting the opportunity to film such a high-budget film with stars like Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg holds a lot of weight. Similarly, the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series is the first time fan will see McGregor and Christensen back in a Galaxy Far, Far Away since 2005.
