This technology is quickly becoming a regular tool in making major movies and TV shows, especially within the ranks of Disney Studios.
Recently on Twitter, Marvel director James Gunn tackled a fan question that asked if he plans for Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 to use the revolutionary Stagecraft/Volume technology made famous by Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian. Simply put, Gunn responded that this tech will be used in his next MCU movie:

The Volume Tech helped bring The Mandalorian to life as the team used it to create incredibly realistic backgrounds in space, and the tech will be put to use in the MCU for Taika Waititi’s 2022 release of Thor: Love and Thunder. Waititi first used it when he directed the season finale of The Mandalorian Season 2 and it’s clear that he found it to be a huge benefit.
