Though this bit of news is certainly significant for Disney, it likely won’t change much about the actual film. A part of the X-Con Security consultant group, T.I. played a small supporting role in the first two Ant-Man films. Fans should likely expect a brief line explaining away his absence in the film, or perhaps no mention of the character at all.
According to an article from The Hollywood Reporter, actor T.I. will not be reprising his role as Dave in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The news comes in the wake of a slew of accusations of sexual abuse against the rapper and actor. The connection between these charges and this development is not confirmed.
The film in question will begin production soon in Turkey and is set to release sometime in 2022.
Update: Variety has now reported that this development is not related to these recent accusations and that the actor was never intended to come back for the third film.
With this title focusing on massive characters like Kang and huge conceptual elements, like the Quantum Realm, side characters like the X-Cons were probably already going to have their roles shrunk down. Even fan-favorite characters like Randall Park’s Jimmy Woo may not appear in the film.
